Last year, beloved Sydney band The Preatures reunited for an intimate sold-out show at The Lansdowne, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album Blue Planet Eyes.
Released in 2014, the record catapulted them onto the global stage with its infectious blend of 60s R&B and indie rock, earning critical acclaim, four ARIA nominations, and spots in triple j’s Hottest 100. Hits like Is This How You Feel? and Somebody’s Talking became anthems, leading to massive tours, festival slots at Coachella and Glastonbury, and even an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. But after years of relentless touring and mounting pressures, the band called it quits, until now.
A decade on, the pull of Blue Planet Eyes proved too strong to resist. The reunion saw the original lineup back on stage, including guitarist Gideon Bensen, who left in 2013, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans. The overwhelming demand has left audiences hoping for more, while a special limited-edition glitter splatter vinyl of Blue Planet Eyes marks the milestone.
They’ll celebrate by embarking on a national tour, stopping by The Princess Theatre as part of Open Season.
Open Season is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland’s QASP and Strategic Partnership’s fund.
