About The Works

by Emmy Moore
Bucket Boy Takes Flight
Engage your thrusters and escape with Bucket Boy into a surreal world hidden within our own. Using Kodak slides and everyday objects, Bucket Boy Takes Flight transforms the mundane into a picture-perfect world slowly slipping beyond Bucket Boy’s reach. With striking physical theatre and a dream-like soundscape, Bucket Boy Takes Flight defies gravity to share an intimate story of resilience. Produced by Interstage, this new work-in-development from emerging performance artist, Emmy Moore, emboldens her practice under the guidance of Dead Puppet Society and mentorship of trailblazers including Caroline Dunphy and Peter Keavy. An antidote for dark times, Bucket Boy Takes Flight is a tender one-person show which excites the imagination to bring out our inner-child.

This show contains language, strobe, references to death and haze.

Fitzgerald Sunbeam
Kind, caring, considerate, and cunning - it’s Fitzgerald Sunbeam. Embark on a spiritual journey through the eyes of one man on a quest to ignore the beautiful lessons in his life as he tries to invent them first instead and not own up to anything. A playful, woo-woo comedy theatre, this one-man drag extravaganza features animals, plants and an effigy of Sam Kerr (to guide us through the darkest nights). With a cast of colourful characters, and a sensual performance by writer Esther Dougherty, Fitzgerald Sunbeam is heaven’s answer to anyone’s prayers for a fresh start.

This show contains language, sexual references, strobe, loud/sudden noises and partial nudity (shirt off but chest covered by binding).

The Hearth
Home is where the heart is, but this heart is under attack. Presented by Meanjin-based theatre-making collective Lunch Friend, The Hearth is an absurdist exploration into rampant modern consumerism and its effects on Earth and the homes we inhabit. Lunch Friend will bring iconic Queensland architecture and everyday household objects to life to create an absurd telling of a simple renovation, reimagined as a battle between a house and those that seek to change it for their own desires. The Hearth will blend physical theatre, abstract poetic storytelling and gothic domestic horror to tell a story of Home vs Owners that echoes the plight of our own global biosphere.

This show contains loud/sudden noises and strobe.
