Vera Polozkova comes to Brisbane for a live show and presentation of her new book Lost and Found.
Vera Polozkova: "I’ve written a new book, my first one published outside of Russia. It contains 77 texts: about love, about war, about craft, about time, about memory, about what has been lost and what has been gained. 77, because that was my mother’s age when she left me this year."
"It is about gratitude for the fortune of being alive and feeling everything threefold, because no one knows now how much time we have left or what experiences still lie ahead. It’s about what we’ve learned to cherish after losing so much forever."
A few years ago, Vera Polozkova and Alexander Manotskov reinvented the ancient genre of antiphons, where poetry, recitation, and music blend into one. Over the years, they have brought their Antiphons to over 30 countries, regularly updating the content while preserving the original concept.
The Brisbane event will feature, for the first time, songs composed by Alexander Manotskov specifically for Vera, beloved poems from previous years, and, of course, new texts from her new book Lost and Found, which will be available for purchase and signing.
Please note, this performance will be in Russian.
