VENUE UPDATE

Dear ticket holders,

We are moving this Saturday's Brisbane 'Way Dynamic' show to The Princess Theatre, just across the road from our previous venue, Season Three!

Factoring in this week's unpredictable weather and the volume of ticket holders, we're making this shift as a precautionary measure so this show can be undercover.

This will now be an *ALL AGES* show and we have been able to release some additional tickets for those that missed out, or those that couldn't come because of it previously being an 18+ event.

The wonderful artists, audiences, and music community we work with are always our priority, and we want everyone to be having the best show experience possible.

We encourage you to grab a drink over at Echo & Bounce before or after the show.

Thanks so much for supporting our shows and being part of the JBCM community. We can’t wait to see you soon. Much love, The Jet Black Cat Music team.

Way Dynamic, the project of Melbourne songwriter Dylan Young, shares his new single ‘Officially’. The song is included on the first-ever international release of the album Massive Shoe, out on 2 Oct via Jagjaguwar, which also features the recent BBC 6 Music playlisted single ‘Miffed It’.

‘Officially’ is released ahead of Way Dynamic’s upcoming UK, Ireland and North American tour. "I wrote ‘Officially’ the week I met my girlfriend, so it really is a shamefully joyous love song,” Dylan explains. Part delirious and part lament, he continues, “But it also contends with the downside of being addicted to someone - I am a very compulsive person." It’s a jubilant number that enhances Massive Shoe’s take on relationships squandered and flourishing....

Massive Shoe is Way Dynamic’s playful and understated, luminous and textured third album, originally released on Spoilsport Records. It’s minimalist folk-pop, art rock and baroque pop, produced and largely played by Young, who moonlights in Melbourne’s beloved Cool Sounds and Good Morning and has played drums with Snowy Band and Kankawa Nagarra.

It’s tempting to only compare these songs to those of yesteryear – Young’s falsetto, his ear for harmonies and the intricate arrangements all feel timeless. But there’s a sensibility, a turn of phrase, that feels deeply contemporary: it’s telling that Waxahatchee’s Katie Crutchfield described ‘Miffed It’ as her “favourite song in a VERY long time”, and Katie, MJ Lenderman, This is Lorelei and Black Country New Road have all taken Way Dynamic on tour, while Sir Elton John said that he “just cannot stop listening” to ‘Ibiza’. Young’s songs don’t shy away from sentiment, or equally from silliness: on any given song he might suggest a flight to space or earnestly lament a miscommunication. “Can we walk and talk as well?” he asks on ‘I Was the Dancer’, and we rush to accept the invitation.
